In samenwerking met het Noord-Veluws Museum, wordt op vrijdag 18 mei 2018 de nieuwe website van Piet Bruins (1929-2014), kunstschilder uit Nunspeet, gelanceerd.

Op de website wordt u meegenomen in zijn werken en wordt er teruggekeken op wie hij was en waar hij voor stond.

Vanaf zaterdag 19 t/m woensdag 23 mei zijn er een aantal werken van Piet Bruins in de Rabozaal van het museum te bekijken.

Begin jaren ’60 verhuist Piet Bruins met zijn gezin naar Nunspeet. Piet Bruins behoort tot de groep kunstenaars die de Vrije Academie voor de Kunsten in Nunspeet opricht. Als docent tekenen en schilderen werkt hij op het Centrum voor kunstzinnige vorming te Harderwijk en geeft hij tekenlessen aan de Scholengemeenschap ’t Slingerbos in Harderwijk. Later is hij initiatiefnemer van de Harderwijkse kunstenaarsgroep Tragant. Piet Bruins was succesvol als aquarellist en bleef zijn hele leven experimenteren met nieuwe technieken en nieuwe materialen. Dat resulteerde in zijn latere leven in de voor hem typerende werken in gouache met Bijbelse figuren en landschappen die hij opbouwde met lijnen en felgekleurde vlakken.

“Geen enkel materiaal mag met geringschatting worden benaderd. Ieder materiaal heeft zijn eigen kracht en bekoring. Echter ook haar eigen nukken. Om daar achter te komen en die te overwinnen geeft oneindig veel voldoening”.
