Geschiedenis van een bijzonder huis

Het Ronde HuisEr zijn bijna geen tastbare herinneringen aanwezig op het terrein, waar vroeger het Ronde Huis in het bos bij Nunspeet heeft gestaan. Wel doen er vele verhalen en geruchten de ronde over dit bijzondere huis. In het kader van de Maand van de Geschiedenis geeft deze expositie een beeld van het huis aan de hand van foto’s, documenten, bouwtekeningen en een maquette.

Ingenieur Frank van Vloten (1858-1930), liet de villa in 1907 bouwen. Zijn hart ging eigenlijk uit naar het buitenland, waar hij tot 1890 regelmatig had gewerkt. Maar in plaats van te vertrekken, verwezenlijkte Van Vloten hier een Spaanse rotunda in het bos bij Nunspeet. Vanaf 1939 herbergde het Ronde Huis werkloze jongeren uit Rotterdam en eind jaren veertig een gezinsoord met kansarme gezinnen. In 1959 werd het Ronde Huis een vakantieoord voor arbeiders met de kleine portemonnee. Na de afbraak in 1967 verdween het gebouw, maar ontstond juist de sage van het Ronde huis.

De expositie laat behalve foto’s van de glorietijd en de afbraak van het gebouw vele originele documenten. Daarin zijn de historische feiten geboekstaafd of wordt de totstandkoming van de sage van het Ronde Huis zichtbaar. Ook de prachtige maquette van het Ronde Huis uit de collectie van de Heemkundige Vereniging Nuwenspete is voor deze gelegenheid in het Noord-Veluws Museum te bewonderen.
